In order to provide student affairs professionals within the division of student affairs with opportunities to gain additional assessment skills, the ACPA ASK Standards will be used as a framework to gauge and design professional development needs and opportunities. Developed by the ACPA Commission for Assessment for Student Development, the ASK standards seek to articulate the areas of content knowledge and skills student affairs professionals need in order to assess the degree to which their programs and services are meeting their intended program and student learning outcomes. Simply put, the content standards answer the question, “What do student affairs professionals need to know in order to do assessment?”

It is suggested that all student affairs staff download and review the following documents:

ACPA ASK Bookle
ACPA-NASPA Professional Competency Area
ACPA-NASPA Professional Competency Areas (Short Version
ACPA-NASPA Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Rubric
